Character's personality:
Overall, Alec is an introvert but as he has matured through the series and has learned to accept himself, he has become more outspoken. He is not someone who is talkative but he expresses himself when needed even though he is a quiet and shy person. When he does speak, he is straightforward and blunt, sometimes seeming rude despite his intentions. This can be tempered with a big brother kindness that makes him a peacekeeper among his group of friends.
He is someone who is extremely loyal to his siblings and friends. Alec is the protector in his family and helped raise his siblings when his parents were away because of Clave business. When hunting demons with his siblings, he would watch their backs instead of rushing into the fight. He is also the healer in the group, tending injuries and trying to reassure those he cares about.
At times, Alec can let his self-doubts get the better of him. He can be prone to jealousy and after years of being ignored by others, he can feel like he is 'trivial'. At one time, he let these darker emotions get the better of him, resulting in a break up with his boyfriend. Since then, he has realized the consequences of his doubts and is working on dealing with these emotions.
Despite loving deeply, Alec is self-aware enough that when he gets a chance to reunite with his boyfriend, Magnus, he doesn't automatically say yes. He loves Magnus deeply but he knows that they will keep hurting each other if they cannot work out his differences. Even knowing how much refusing will hurt them both, he is willing to walk away so that they will not continue along the destructive path they have been following.
When he does this, Magnus agrees to begin working things out which gives Alec a choice to have what would be a 'normal' life. He could settle into the type of role that is expected of a Shadowhunter, find a Nephilim guy to date since it's becoming more socially acceptable, and grow old with someone. It is something that he thought he wanted more than anything but he realizes that he loves Magnus too much to settle for normal. He knows there will be misunderstandings and pain but he is willing to take the risk if Magnus
Instead, he chooses to love someone despite all the pain that might be involved in loving someone who is immortal and according to many of his peers and some members of his family, is socially unacceptable.
This helps show that Alec is a young man full of contridictions. He was desperate for his parents' approval yet outed himself so that Magnus knew his true feelings. He is a warrior who hates killing the innocent even when that death is a mercy. When he was in the middle of a battle and had to killed humans who could not be saved from the magic inflicted on them, he wept at the loss of life and over the horrors that others can commit against each other.
He can seem cool and aloof but laughs over silly songs that he hears on the subway. He can be stubborn and snarky but tries to help his sister when her heart is breaking. He will also protect those he doesn't know and ignore the rules for the greater good. Numerous times he defied the Shadowhunter's laws to help his family and the people he loves.
Alec is growing as a person and learning to see beyond the narrow confines he was shown as 'right'. He loves fiercely and at times, impatiently. He is loyal and shows kindness in unexpected ways, offering help to those that most Nephilim would scorn. Alec is someone steadily learning about himself and learning to accept himself despite years of believing that there is something wrong with him
Character's skills/abilities/powers:
Alec is part of a race of human/angel warriors called Nephilim. From a young age, he was trained as a warrior to hunt demons. His body is covered in black symbols called Marks that give a Shadowhunter abilities such as enhanced agility, speed, and sight. During his training he excelled at archery although he is trained to use various types of blades and in hand to hand combat. He is stronger and faster than humans and many types of supernatural creatures.
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.:
Alec will have with him a messenger bag with him that has two steles (see link), a Seraph blade (see link), a change of clothes, and a spiral notebook that Magnus gave him inside. He'll be armed with a dagger and have a witchlight (a magic stone that produces light) and a cell phone in his pockets.

Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them?
As was mentioned earlier, Alec is a character that is filled with contradictions. He is also someone who is very sheltered despite living a dangerous life as a Shadowhunter. I'd like to see how he would evolve and grow when placed in a world that is filled with so many varied types of beings and life choices. I also think that once Alec becomes settled, he could be a calming, protective influence on the ship.

This wasn't supposed to happen again. He wasn't supposed to be separated from Magnus. They'd gotten back together. They'd both promised to work through their problems. Alec was moving back in, returning to the Brooklyn apartment that was more of a home to him than the Institute had ever been.

He couldn't lose that again. Or lose Izzy and Jace. They were probably frantic. They <i>all</i> were probably doing reckless, crazy things that might get them killed in an attempt to get him back. Guilt caught in his throat, causing Alec to swallow hard. He might not be to blame for being here but whatever happened to them would be his fault.
Maybe he could find a way back. Maybe he could find a way to tell them he was safe. Someone here has to have information. Alec just has to figure out who to ask. Knowing that he needs to calm down before he starts searching for answers, he motions to the bartender, ready to order a glass of wine.
Then he remembers how he'd been in Edom and the hopelessness he'd felt. No, falling back on old habits wouldn't help anyone. Getting drunk would just make him feel worse and probably cause him to do something stupid that might make the situation worse. Instead, he orders coffee, promising himself that he'll be home soon. Somehow he'll find a way back to Brooklyn. He'd curl up on the couch with Magnus while his family grumbled and lectured him about disappearing. As long as he remembers that having that moment is possible, he can get through this. It's temporary. Eventually he'll get back to the life that he'd promised himself. He just has to be patient.
